Steps into the Void, detail, 2020

Laura Domencic is an artist, curator, writer and educator who cultivates creative thinking in individuals and communities. She is the Executive Director of the Erie Art Museum and a lead partner and curator with The Documentary Works, a group that produces photo documentary exhibits on social and environmental justice. 

Before her appointment to the Museum, she has worked as an independent arts consultant leading successful fundraising efforts for a variety of institutional and individual clients. She has also directed an artist residency program in Ambialet, France. Previously, Domencic served for 11 years as Director of the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. 

Domencic received her MFA from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. 

She organized and exhibited An Unpredictable Time & Place at MassMOCA in North Adams, MA., has taught at Gannon University and recently participated in Wildacres Residency in North Carolina.
